Jed Brewer is the new Director of Mission:USA Productions, a division of Mission:USA ministries. Jed’s job is to develop low or no cost media for direct ministry applications, and to develop media that can be distributed through retail markets for the benefit of Mission:USA ministries. The Director of M:USA Productions has the following responsibilities:
At THE BRIDGE:
v Leading Worship - The worship time at THE BRIDGE is critical for preparing the hearts and minds of the attendees for the topic being covered that evening. Through the music and worship leading, Jed introduces the topic, thus giving the rotating crew of pastors a foundation to build on for their ten-minute sermons.
v Developing BRIDGE Worship Songs - Because THE BRIDGE is devoted to maximizing the ministry value of each Tuesday, the songs used at the Bridge must support this aim. Few songs are lyrically targeted to the specific spiritual needs of M:USA’s clientele. Jed therefore develops original music expressly for use at THE BRIDGE.
v Producing Video Content - Jed is currently exploring two separate goals: story-telling and mood setting. Story-telling has the potential to serve a similar role to that played by liturgical drama in many churches. Mood setting entails the playback of pre-service video graphics that display relevant Scripture and messages of welcome.
v Church Multimedia Setup Consultation – Our inner-city BRIDGE churches generally require help in setting up inexpensive but effective PowerPoint projection, sound systems, and even video recording for uploading to the web. The technology has never been cheaper, and Jed works with BRIDGE churches to help them find simple ways to look sharp, sound sharp, and get connected; all in a fraction of the usual time and cost.
Beyond THE BRIDGE:
v Explore The Mission Field - Jed begins the media production process by investigating the spiritual struggles of the demographic that this piece of media is meant to reach
v Create Relevant Media - Once Jed has a sense of how this group sees themselves, and how they see God, he works with a team of volunteers to help develop relevant media to address what’s broken. This media could be music, video, print, or some combination. The ministry needs dictates the approach.
v Take It To The Streets - Once the media is created, it’s time to take it to the people! This could mean anything from posting a video on the internet and sending promotional emails, to making copies at Kinko’s and heading to the county jail.
v Engage In Discipleship - The goal of all M:USA Productions media is to provoke one-on-one ministry. If a teenager or an ex-convict experiences a piece of media and that stimulates conversation, then we’ve succeeded. This success means the media has planted good seeds, and the conversation will give others the opportunity to water those seeds. These conversations will expose new issues and struggles people face, and create the basis for the next piece of media.
